Customer Spotlight: ScaleArc Goes to the Mat for Customer DDP Yoga
Even people who’ve never taken a yoga class have heard about “Downward Dog” and “Child’s Pose,” and they’ve probably heard the gentle greeting “Namaste.” But when’s the last time you heard a Yogi talking about wrestling or “database load balancing software"?
For us at ScaleArc, it happens every day – our favorite Yogi is the famed Diamond Dallas Page, founder of one of ScaleArc’s more interesting customers – DDP Yoga. Page, a former WWE Champion, took to the mat (in this case, the yoga mat) to help people with injuries or whose health was otherwise compromised to rebuild their strength. He’s made a great success building up his army of what many are calling “beefcake yoga” believers.
Online orders for his DDP Yoga fitness program began to put pressure on the company’s website. Then he got word that he would appear on ABC’s Shark Tank, and he knew the proverbial body blow was coming to his website, with the very real risk of a traffic onslaught taking his site down for the count.
Enter ScaleArc and cloud partner Rackspace to save the day. The two companies collaborated to design a web architecture that incorporated ScaleArc’s database load balancing software, which enabled DDP Yoga’s MySQL database to handle the increased traffic flow.
To learn more on how ScaleArc helped DDP Yoga achieve zero downtime on its website, despite a traffic boost of 3000 percent, check out this video with DDP Yoga’s president, Steve Yu.
