Going Wide With ScaleArc! - Reflection on Customer Visits

This week a group of us are at one of our larger customers, a computer/electronics manufacturing company ranked in the top 100 of the Fortune 500 list. We’ve been providing 100% uptime for their eCommerce site for the last 14+ months, delivering local and global database load balancing while also making their website 2X faster and lowering overall Capex and Opex costs. It’s been a home run deployment with a fantastic customer.

But now we are going wide at this enterprise. We’re training hundreds of their IT professionals worldwide covering development, DevOps, DBA, networking, infrastructure, etc. We’re leading the 2-day training onsite across three continents. Regardless of whether it’s a Tier 1 app, or a Tier 3 app, ScaleArc can be deployed alongside this customer’s SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL databases. I’ve captured the main reasons this company is deploying ScaleArc in a ubiquitous manner within the infrastructure.

Faster app development with higher quality and consistency

  • Developers freed from database scalability and availability coding = faster app development
  • Immediate real-time feedback on apps means higher quality apps developed faster
  • QA/DevTest environments can more closely mirror Production

Zero downtime, *anytime* maintenance

  • The ability to do patching whenever needed – without taking down the commerce site or any app supported by ScaleArc, and with much less staff

Architects / Operations / DBAs enable a Database-as-a-Service environment internally

  • Zero downtime environment for all applications
  • Delivering a full service, agile offering internally across product groups
  • Lower overall cost of app infrastructure (less hardware, licenses, etc.)

New level of real-time visibility in the entire organization

  • Faster troubleshooting and time-to-resolution
  • Capacity planning

Managing a ubiquitous deployment continues to be easy with our flexible and open architecture. Anyone who can deploy, manage and monitor network web load balancers like F5 can deploy ScaleArc. We’re looking forward to this next phase with this customer, and many more like it.
