ScaleArc

Chasing the Holy Grail of Client Connection Failover

  • The launch of ScaleArc for Oracle 3.2 is a major milestone for the company. Application downtime during a database failover/failure is significantly impacted by the need for applications to reconnect after failover.

SQL connections to Oracle Servers are fairly complex, and all of the currently available solutions require reconnects. Typically, SQL connections are connection pooled with a long lifetime, which increases recovery time. Current solutions fall short of achieving zero downtime, leaving the lone choice of application restarts to recover, even from planned database maintenance operations.

ScaleArc for Oracle has advanced connection management capabilities that keep of track of all the state changes happening on server connections. With the use of this advanced stateful connection management, ScaleArc is able to prevent application connection resets.

Authentication offload, surge protection, stateful connection tracking and replay, and automated database failover – all work in unison and help achieve zero downtime for apps.
