ScaleArc’s most recent conversation with DevOps’ Alan Shimel: Try everything and the impact of continuous everything.
ScaleArc Founder and CTO Varun Singh recently had the chance to chat with DevOps.com Editor-in-chief Alan Shimel – the result was a fascinating mind-meld of two highly diverse and accomplished technical experts. Alan has founded and advised numerous technology vendors, and he is a compelling personality in industry media. About 10 years ago, I had the good fun of competing with Alan in the Network Access Control market. We had a great time bringing Alan up to speed on how ScaleArc is talking to enterprises about simplifying database scalability and best practices in migrating to the cloud.
Given that database load balancing is an emerging market, one comment from Alan really struck me. He tied ScaleArc’s value to the fundamental premise of DevOps – serving ever-growing customer expectations in the mobile/social/global world we live in today. Alan commented, “We live in interesting times. It’s sort of a boundary layer as we move into a world dominated by movements like DevOps and automation and continuous delivery integration, continuous integration, continuous everything.” Simple but true, Alan – it’s all about “continuous everything” these days. Customers tolerate nothing less than always on, zero downtime environments in the companies they engage. ScaleArc enjoyed highlighting for Alan how we deliver on this expectation at the database level.
